Proposal writing is an important yet challenging
skill for an academic. Having a good idea is necessary but alone is
insufficient to win a proposal. Instead, the style, the accessibility and
organization are crucial. Having the experience of writing and evaluating a
substantial number of large grant proposals and been involved in the Research
Grants Council in various capacities in the past twenty years, the presenter
will share with you how to write a winning proposal for UGC grants. In this
workshop, the presenter will particularly focus on the following aspects: - The grant review process
- Elements for a competitive
proposal
- Common pitfalls in proposal
writing
- Successful and unsuccessful
cases in recent years
This
activity is jointly organised by CoP on Using English for Academic Success and EDC. Food and beverage will be provided from 12 noon. To support the University's campaign for Green Campus, please bring your own drinkware.
