PolyU has a policy to further educate students about the importance of honest behaviours in academic pursuits, and offers opportunities for academic staff to detect cases of suspected plagiarism and take necessary actions. Part 1 of the workshop discusses the "what, why and how" of student plagiarism, suggests strategies to help students avoid plagiarism, and introduces resources and support for PolyU teachers to deter and detect student plagiarism.

This workshop aims to:
- examine the concept of plagiarism
- explore ways to prevent student plagiarism
- discuss the use and limitations of electronic tools for detecting and deterring student plagiarism
Participants will be guided to learn, in a step-by-step manner, how to make use of electronic tools to check students’ work for suspected cases of plagiarism.
