An Open Forum on a Proposed Revision of PolyU’s Grading System and Institutional Subject Grading Descriptors (Re-run) (Re-run)

Since the University’s adoption of criterion-referenced approach (CRA) to assessment in 2005, a student’s overall performance in a subject is to be awarded on a criterion-referenced basis and graded with reference to the Institutional Grading Descriptors. In 2017, the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) Audit Panel recommended in their report that the descriptors could be differentiated more precisely and meaningfully.

In view of the above, the Working Group on Subject Quality Assurance (WGSQA), formed under the Learning and Teaching Committee (LTC), has conducted a benchmark study on PolyU’s grading system and descriptors against other local and leading overseas universities. Subsequently, a revision to the current grading system and descriptors was proposed, taking into account consultations via surveys and departmental visits.

This open forum will present and discuss the proposed revision to PolyU’s grading system and descriptors. All academic staff are highly encouraged to join us as your opinion matters!

This open forum is co-organised by the Working Group on Subject Quality Assurance and the Educational Development Centre.
