Student Directed Series (SDS) 🎸 Video Game Music Composition Workshop♪♫~ In this workshop, you will
learn basic music theory and DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) skills to compose
your own 4–8 bar loop. You’ll learn how to convert your tracks into an 8-bit
chiptune style and create two contrasting versions to evoke different narrative
moods.
Workshop Highlights
- Music Theory & Storytelling: A quick introduction
to chord progressions, motifs vs. themes, and using leitmotifs to convey
character and emotion.
- DAW Basics: A hands-on GarageBand orientation, focusing
on selecting 8-bit and synth sounds for a retro aesthetic.
- Compose & Iterate: Create, refine, and polish your
own original video game soundtrack loop.
